Gerald was educated at St Benildus College, Upper Kilmacud Road, Stilllorgan, County Dublin, graduated in 1980 with a BCL Degree from University College Dublin and qualified as a Solicitor in December 1983. He has been in general legal practice at all times since then, has built up wide experience in many areas of law and maintains a substantial and loyal clientele. He has a keen interest in all matters sporting, particularly GAA, and is a member of Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club and Stackstown Golf Club.
